Intrigued? Well, my friend, buckle up, because my in-depth review of “Right Man, Right Time” is just around the corner, and trust me, you won’t want to miss this literary escapade!

Let’s dive in…

Tropes of Right Man, Right Time:

Now, let’s dive into the delightful reading tropes that make “Right Man, Right Time” by Meghan Quinn an absolute page-turner. First up, we have the classic hockey romance – and let me tell you, Quinn knocks this one out of the rink. The vivid portrayal of the hockey world adds an extra layer of excitement to the narrative, making it a must-read for sports romance enthusiasts. Silas Taters’ journey in this hockey-centric universe is a goal-scoring delight.

But it’s not just about the sports; “Right Man, Right Time” also brings in the age gap trope with finesse. Ollie’s playful jabs about Silas being a “grandpa” create a delightful dynamic between the characters, injecting humor into their budding romance. The way Quinn handles this age-gap relationship is nothing short of perfection, turning potential concerns into a strength that adds depth to the story.

Now, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite – fake dating. Silas and Ollie’s decision to fake date sets the stage for a rollercoaster of emotions, misunderstandings, and, of course, sizzling chemistry. The fake dating trope intertwines seamlessly with the friends-to-lovers journey as Silas and Ollie navigate the thin line between friendship and something more.

Miscommunication adds a sprinkle of drama, keeping readers hooked as they cheer for this dynamic duo. And amidst it all, the theme of found family emerges, providing a heartwarming touch to the narrative. Silas, our broken hero, finds solace and healing within the girl who randomly kissed him at the bar, making “Right Man, Right Time” a captivating tale of love, laughter, hilarious teammates, and the game of hockey.

Right Man, Right Time Synopsis:

Crossing paths with your ex-lover while they’re dating your worst enemy is the worst thing that could happen.

In a complete panic, I found myself in a bar and blindly kissed the first guy I saw, who was incredibly beautiful. However, my happiness turned to fear when, after I thanked him and tried to leave, he said three words that would change my life: “You owe me.”

All of a sudden, I found myself in a fake relationship with a professional hockey player ten years older than me.

At first, it looked easy enough.
He gave me help with my internship.
It was my job to keep his annoying ex away.
We became fast friends.

But when he started staying at my dorm at night, the rules of our arrangement became less clear, which caused a lot of problems.

We’re now dealing with feelings, and even though I kissed the right man at the right time, I think he might just be waiting until time runs out.

Silas Taters quote about Ollie Owens - Right Man, Right Time

Merrill's Takeaway of Right Man, Right Time:

This hockey romance is a wild ride filled with banter, laughs, and a dash of that good ol’ puck action. Seriously, this book is a rollercoaster of emotions, banter, and a dash of hockey, and I can’t wait for you to dive into the awesomeness.

Silas Taters, our hockey hottie (ultimate book boyfriend, if you ask me!), and Ollie, the banter queen, get tangled up in a fake dating situation that’s straight out of a rom-com. Silas is recovering from finding out that his ex who he walked in on cheating on him with not one- but two people- is now working at the stadium, and Ollie is out to show her ex what’s what. Their chemistry is instant, but they both agree – no hanky panky (pfft, yeah right); they’re just going to help each other out by showing up to functions with each other to get under their ex’s skin.

The beauty of this book is the journey from strangers to BFFs to the briefest moments of enemies-to-lovers since Silas won’t cave into Ollie’s advances to lovers. Silas is dealing with some heavy stuff, and I seriously wanted to give him a reality check, but Ollie stole the show. Her banter is top-tier, and she’s the definition of a badass. I honestly wish I had her quick wit and confidence – she’s funny, independent, and unapologetically sex-positive. The friends-to-lovers phase hit differently than most other books I’ve read within this trope, and I was here for it.

Meghan Quinn nails the sports romance game again. Silas Taters’ story is everything I hoped for, and the age gap? Handled like a pro. Ollie’s witty jokes about Silas being a “grandpa” and her “geriatric boyfriend” had me snort laughing throughout the entire book. Especially because Silas is so ripped and shredded that it was just comical that she would even consider him geriatric. The banter and dialogues, especially the texting convos (remember “oye, my dick”? Yeah, I most literally peed my pants laughing during that scene while watching Sunday football), were pure gold. Plus, the “meet-cute” story involving a donkey pervert had me in stitches. Trust me; you will start out by shaking your head at how ridiculous that part is to full-out belly laughing because, of course, Ollie would come up with such a ridiculous story for how she and Silas met.

The tension between Silas and Ollie is so palpable it’s like a live wire. The slow burn, mixed with laugh-out-loud moments, had me questioning why this book had to end. The side characters, especially Ross, brought another layer of fun to the story. And can we talk about the spicy bedroom scenes? Hot, hot, hot. Also, major props to Quinn for connecting all her stories and characters – it’s like a little reunion with old friends. It truly makes me smile when her characters from past books and series make appearances.

In a nutshell, Meghan Quinn’s “Right Man, Right Time” is a laugh-out-loud, tear-jerking, banter-filled adventure that’ll make you fall in love with Silas and Ollie. These two will leave you with a huge cheesy grin on your face and I can almost promise you that the book hangover will be tough to get through, as well.

I hope you love it as much as I did!
